Counseling Resources:

South Dakota Helpline is a Sioux Falls based company who offers counseling support in the areas of Suicide Prevention, Millitary issues, Crisis counseling, etc.

 Text 4 Help: Teens talk through texting and the Helpline Center wants to help them! The Helpline Center offers a Teen Texting program in South Dakota. Teens can text "icare" to 898211 from 3pm to 11pm to talk with staff about issues concerning themselves or others they care about with depression, drug/alcohol related issues, stress, crisis, and much more. [Standard message & data rates may apply]

 Southeastern Behavioral Health Counseling Services offers counseling related services to the Sioux Falls area which includes Canton.  This is a great resource for students who may need further counseling services. SBH is also available- to those who qualify- to counsel students during the school day on school campus in order to assist with economic barriers that may limit families obtaining counseling services else where. [Please, contact me if you have interest in connecting with SBH]

 South Dakota Department of Education: Many questions about South Dakota's educational system can be answered via their website.  Common Core is explained in detail as well as individual school demographics and school report cards. Information about student and parental/guardian rights concerning Special Education services and services for English Language Learning students can be found here, too.

 

SReturn to SDMyLife Home PageD MyLife is an internet resource used by all students in South Dakota to help facilitate a career minded attitude for students.  This website contains many helpful tools such as an ability profiler and interest inventories.  All 8th grade students are required to complete the ability profiler and interest inventory.  This site also serves as a great database for college information such as school size, majors, cost, etc.


6th Grade Social Skills

 Social Skills class is designed to help students improve academic skills, explore college & career options, and develop stronger person and social skills. Within these topics, we have a strong focus on teamwork, relationships, respect, and academic success. SS Class is meant to be FUN! Below is a list of topics that are covered throughout each quarter.
