High School Counselor

Counselors provide a wide variety of services and a source of information for our students.  Canton students are fortunate to have a full time Counselor in each school – Elementary, Middle School and High School.  Canton’s High School Counselor is there to assist students in the areas of academic and career planning as well as social and emotional development.  This covers a wide array of responsibilities. The Counselor plans and coordinates all state and national testing, which includes, but not limited to ACT and PSAT testing, PLAN and AP tests, and Smarter Balanced tests.   Preparing students – and their parents –for continuing their education after high school, the Counselor provides programs and information on the application process, scholarships, financial aid, NCAA regulations, etc .  In addition, the Counselor is in a position to continually monitor and advise students, and their parents, as to their graduation progress. Individual and small group counseling sessions are arranged in response to student need and requests.  Often times, the Counselor will make appropriate referrals of students and parents to outside agencies and specialists.  The Counselor, in close collaboration with teachers, staff and parents, works to understand and meet the needs of our high school students.  The High School Counselor at Canton School is a very busy individual, always focused on the academic and emotional well-being of our kids. For more information, or with questions for Canton School District, please call the school office at 605-764-2706.
